The main subjects being the cover, spread, and table of contents that follow the criteria that Vogue has created to attract their audience. From the masthead and images, there are only subtle differences between each issue. The list being masthead, the main image, cover lines, target audience, pugs, tags, strapline, and sidebar, color scheme. These codes pertain and revolve to their specific issue which determines what will occur in terms of target audience attraction.

In 1909 the magazine was acquired by Conde Naste Publishers. The magazine’s volume became thicker and its main focus was turned on women. Naturally, the price was raised as well. In 1916, when the First World War made impossible Vogue deliveries to the Old World, the printing was started in England. This decision proved to be success...

Target Audience Prediction

Image
I believe the main target audience for Vogue would be women because most women like the idea of fashion, clothing, and beauty. Vogue has been using vibrant colors to attract their audience including the use of headlines with the idea of beauty in them. Vogue also mainly always use women models this also includes women role models such as the famous Emma Watson and Rihanna. Vogue likes to have a very pleasing use of their house style to visual please the target audience. This is a pattern that Vogue continues to take which justifies the audience being women.   I will keep this in mind while designing my magazine to target a greater audience than just generalizing it to one group of people.   My magazine will have a variety of models and topics in the fashion industry to gain a greater target audience. I will want to keep the house style aesthetically pleasing instead of most magazines bland this also includes fonts, colors, and articles.

Comparison of 3 Spreads

Image
Feature spread 1 : This article extends over onto another two pages. This is a consistent house style feature of Vogue magazine. Use of the colors black pink and white to suit the target audience but also to suit the genre of the article. More drop capitals to signal new story/view within the article. Rule of thirds also challenges the conventions of most magazines and instead uses halves. Uses one main image central on the page to suggest an image-led page to attract attention and suit the target audience. A graphic is again used instead of a realistic. Extracts from the article used to gain interest and attract attention. The main article is in 2 equal width columns. Feature spread 2 : The name of the celebrity is on the top of the article page so that the readers know who the article is about. The font of the text at the top of the page reading “Emma Watson”. The font used for her first name is very classy and sophisticated, representing the calm sweet side ...

Comparison of Table of Contents

Image
Table of Contents 1 : The masthead of the magazine “Vogue” is included on the contents page which help emphasizes the brand identity of the magazine. The masthead appears to be one of the main features of the contents page as it is very large and eye-catching. The date of the magazine issue is featured at the top right-hand side of the contents page. The date is reasonably small as it is not the main priority of the page. It is in bold font though, so you can easily spot it, and it is in red and black, which fits with the color scheme of the page. The main image of the contents page is very central, so the reader’s eye is drawn to it immediately. It shows a long shot of a model wearing a red dress. The body position is quite sexual and very confident, showing off the clothing worn which is what the image is designed to do, as this is the main selling point of the magazine. “Vogue” is a women’s fashion magazine, therefore it will want to make the clothes featured look at...
